A Complementary Camp Cadet Program
Sunny Day Camp
A program where no one is left out — bringing the Camp Cadet experience to children and adults with special needs, and building meaningful connections with the law enforcement agencies that serve their community.
The Story Behind Sunny Day Camp
A Vision of Inclusion
Sunny Day Camp was founded in 2016 by Pennsylvania State Trooper Samantha Minnucci as a way to promote positive relations between law enforcement and children and adults with special needs. Trooper Minnucci's vision was simple and powerful: no one should be left out of learning about the law enforcement agencies that serve their community.
The Inspiration
Trooper Minnucci's youngest brother, Gabriel, was the heart behind this program. She described him as having an amazing personality who lights up any room when he walks in — with the biggest heart she has ever known, and her number one priority and biggest fan throughout her career in law enforcement.
"When I became Camp Director of Camp Cadet of Chester County in 2014, Gabriel was eager to help me set up for the event. Once camp was over, he asked numerous questions about how it went and said he was so excited to one day be able to do Camp Cadet."
Our Purpose
No One Left Out
Sunny Day Camp carries the same spirit of community, respect, and connection that defines Camp Cadet — extended to participants of all abilities. The program creates a safe, joyful environment where individuals with special needs can engage with law enforcement in a meaningful and positive way.
Sunny Day Camp programs operate across Pennsylvania. Camp Cadet of Lancaster County is proud to be part of this statewide effort.
